To streamline business processes, reduce application costs, and improve governance, Compass Minerals implemented a comprehensive workflow-driven approval framework within JD Edwards for Customer Accounts, Opportunities, Order Changes, Item Master Changes, and Item Branch Changes. As part of this initiative, the Account and Opportunity approval processes were migrated from Salesforce to JD Edwards, eliminating the need for a separate platform and reducing ongoing Salesforce licensing costs. In addition, workflow-based approvals were implemented for Order Changes, Item Master maintenance, and Item Branch updates to strengthen business controls and automate approval routing.
The solution centralizes all approval activities within JD Edwards, allowing users to create, review, approve, and track requests from a single enterprise platform. Automated workflows route requests to the appropriate approvers based on configurable business rules, organizational hierarchy, and approval thresholds. Role-based security, workflow delegation, automated notifications, and comprehensive audit tracking ensure approvals are completed efficiently while maintaining compliance and segregation of duties.

Customer Session Highlight
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of a modern, scalable approval framework built within JD Edwards to streamline both Customer Account Approvals and Opportunity Approvals. The presentation will walk through the end to end process design, including request initiation, dynamic approval routing, role based access control, and automated derivation of business attributes using configuration driven tables.
Attendees will gain insight into how complex approval logic across multiple business divisions can be managed through a structured and auditable workflow leveraging standard and custom JD Edwards components.
The solution also extends beyond JD Edwards by integrating with an Azure Bot and Microsoft Teams, allowing approvers to receive approval notifications directly within Teams, review request details, and approve or reject requests without accessing JD Edwards. This approach helps improve response times and user adoption while extending the reach of JD Edwards approval workflows.
